1. What influenced Jordan in his goal to climb the Seven Summits? Which influences came from outside Jordan ? Which ones came from within Jordan ?
He saw a poster in school that influenced him to want to climb the seven summits. His dad was the influence that came from the outside of Jordan and made him believe that it was possible. The influence that came from within side of Jordan was that this is something that he wanted to do because no one ever accomplished it.
2. What challenges did Team Jordan face during the final climb to Everest’s summit? There came a avalanche and Jordan slipped and the spikes that were on his boot stabbed his dad in the leg. The avalanche barely missed them but to climbers that were farther down weren’t as lucky one died one was injured. They were tired and out of breath and they were climbing 14 hours.
3.The author includes several examples of climbers who died on the mountain. Why do you think he does this? To give a example of how dangerous this climb really is and if you attempt it can cause death, that many have tried few have succeeded.
4. Some have criticized Team Jordan for putting a young person at risk. Do you think a 13-year-old is too young for such a dangerous feat? No I don’t he is old enough to make his choice and his parents were right by him for support and help.
5. What was most important toJordan about climbing the mountain? What can others take away from Jordan ’s experience? The fact that Jordan is the only thirteen-year-old who has ever climbed the seven summits. Others can learn that even though things are hard and terrible he still pushed through.
